The dynamics of thin fluid films are of enormous importance in numerous practical applications, ranging from the manufacture of foodstuffs to electronic data capture. As a consequence, scientists from many different disciplines are currently investigating aspects of thin-film flows in a wide variety of contexts, so far with relatively little interaction.

The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for pure and applied mathematicians, engineers and physicists to present the current developments in their field and to work together to address some of the outstanding problems. The core of the Workshop will be invited talks by a series of international experts from the various disciplines, but there will also be ample opportunity for discussion.

Places on the Workshop are limited, but anyone interested in attending should contact Dr Wilson at s.k.wilson@strath.ac.uk

The meeting will take place immediately after the International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics, also held in Edinburgh. Further details on the Congress can be found here.
