Workshop Arrangements

Venue

The Workshop will take place at Heriot-Watt University, a campus just to the west of Edinburgh (see here for more details). For more information on how to get to Edinburgh, please look at our Travel Pages. Please note that a European visa does not guarantee entry to the UK. Please use this link to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Visa Enquiry Form to find out if you need a visa and if so how to apply for one.

We have reserved single study bedrooms (with private bathrooms) on the campus. Rooms will be allocated as registrations are received. Lunch will be provided, but evening meals have not been booked. They are available on the campus, but as the Workshop coincides with the Edinburgh Festival, the Organisers considered that many participants would wish to take the short (20-25 minute) bus-ride into central Edinburgh on many evenings.

Programme

The meeting will start with Registration at Heriot-Watt University during the evening of Wednesday 21 August (for those staying at Heriot-Watt). Talks will begin at 9.30 am on Thursday 22 August. The meeting will finish in the afternoon of Wednesday 28th August. Sunday will be free.

Workshop Costs

The costs will be invoiced, in pounds sterling, prior to the meeting and must be paid at the very latest by the Registration session at the start of the meeting. Cancellation after May 1st will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to that charged by the Conference Centre to the meeting Organisers. Financial support (to cover the costs of local subsistence itemized below) is available only to invited participants.

(a) Residential - approx. £390.00
This covers bed (room with private bathroom) and breakfast from the evening of Wednesday 21 August to the morning of Thursday 29th August, and lunch and refreshments for the six full Workshop days (Thu-Sat and Mon to Wed), and the Registration Buffet on Wednesday 21st.
Note: Accommodation at Heriot-Watt cannot be guaranteed. Reserved rooms will be allocated as Registrations are received.

(b) Non-Residential - approx. £132.00
To cover the costs of lunch, refreshments and room hire from from Thursday 22nd to Wednesday 28th August.

Registration

All Application Forms should be with ICMS by Wednesday 1 May 2002.

The Organisers regret that financial support for this meeting is limited to those who are invited to participate.
