David Forfar, FFA, Consulting Actuary
Colin Ledlie, FFA, Appointed Actuary Standard Life

This one-day seminar is being organised jointly by ICMS and the Faculty of Actuaries to address the requirements of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) for life offices in the UK to undertake a 'realistic valuation' and an assessment of 'risk capital margin' from 2004, and to determine the capital required by life offices according to the individual circumstances of that office (Individual Capital Assessment).

The seminar provides an opportunity to discuss these matters, to hear from practitioners and to review the latest techniques employed to value liabilities. It will be of interest to valuation actuaries (actuarial function holder, with-profits actuary) in life companies, those actuaries in audit firms who will have to sign off the 'realistic balance sheet', consultants, academics involved in finance who are interested in 'value of liabilities' and 'fair values' and mathematicians employed in investment banks.

The seminar fee is £200 (which is VAT exempt) and includes lunch and refreshments. Reductions are available for those not in remunerative employment or who work for a university. Please contact ICMS for details.

Applications and payment must be received by Wednesday 25 August. Places will be confirmed on receipt of payment. You may apply online here.

The meeting is supported by the ICIAM'99 Fund
