Local Accommodation
Welcome to what we hope will be a reasonable guide to finding somewhere to stay in Edinburgh: not a plethora of information, but enough to get you started.
Edinburgh is a very compact city with an excellent bus network on the arterial routes. We will point you in the direction of small hotels and guest houses that are convenient for the various meeting venues we use. Most are also on frequent bus routes to the city-centre.
We have not listed the many larger hotels in central Edinburgh as they are too expensive for most of our visitors. Remember that it is always worth checking the web-sites of hotel chains as they often offer very good deals if booked on-line. You will find more information on larger hotels and chains on www.stayinedinburgh.net, amongst others.
The hotels and guest houses listed all have rooms with private bathrooms (although some will also still have what they will call 'standard' rooms, with a shared bathroom, or a 'standard en suite' which does not include a lavatory, for a cheaper price). Very few Guest Houses will offer an evening meal. Do ask, when you book a room, if breakfast is included in the price. (It usually is). You should also make sure you know the arrangements for checking into your room as most of the smaller establishments do not have 24-hour access.
