[NB This call is now closed.]

The UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India are jointly funding a programme for organising 12-14 workshops in Applied Mathematics in next two years. Roughly half the workshops will take place in each country.

This initiative follows the UK-India Interaction Meeting in Applied Mathematics that took place in July 2012.  The full report from this meeting can be found here.

Workshop participants should be from the two countries and each proposal should involve at least one Key Organiser from the host country and a Coordinator in the other country.

The workshops themselves will take place between April 2014 and April 2016.

Proposals are now invited for the EPSRC-DST Indo-UK Initiative in Applied Mathematics.

The Programme Committee will consider workshop proposals in two tranches with the following deadlines:

  • 11 October 2013
  • 31 July 2014 for workshops held in the UK
18 August 2014 for workshops held in India

Applicants should bear in mind the time needed to evaluate the proposal and plan for organising the Workshop if a proposal is accepted for the Workshop Programme. All workshops must be completed by April 2016.

Country Coordinator of the Initiative:

In UK, please contact ICMS

In India, Professor Dinesh Singh, Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi, Delhi

The proposal document should not normally exceed five pages and should be submitted electronically (PDF, PS, Word or DVI). Full instructions on how to submit a proposal, together with details of the criteria for selection, can be found on these web pages:

Successful applicants will be offered funding to cover the travel and subsistence of up to 40 participants (with a maximum of 10 international attendees). Within six weeks of the end of the workshop organisers must produce a report of their meeting.
