This meeting is planned in honour of the 60th birthday of Dugald Macpherson, encompassing aspects of all of the topics mentioned above. Macpherson’s work has had an important influence both on pure model theory and its diverse connections to group theory and combinatorics, especially through his work with a plethora of collaborators. Our paramount objective in organising this workshop is to bring together in one place leading collaborators and researchers in all of these fields, which is rarely achieved due to the diversity of their fields of expertise. We have carefully selected the invitees to represent the full spectrum of Macpherson’s work and influence.

The aim of this meeting is to bring together researchers in three different fields: model theory, group theory and combinatorics. There have been several exciting recent developments in these fields which will be explored in the workshop.
