Partial differential equations (PDE's) provide a conceptual framework for studying a vast spectrum of problems arising in the natural and physical sciences. Therefore, not surprisingly, they are a central feature in the work of many mathematicians, both pure and applied. The primary aim of this meeting is to bring together researchers mostly from Scotland whose work features nonlinear PDE’s and their analysis. This meeting is the sequential event following the first Scottish PDE Colloquium, which took place at  ICMS in May 2013. Based upon the success of the first meeting we aim to establish a series of annual meetings. The large number of researchers working in the area in Scotland also required to expand the meeting into a two-day meeting. The presentations will cover a wide variety of topics related to PDE’s.

Specific goals of the meeting:

  • Bring together junior and senior researchers in PDE’s from across Scotland

  • Provide a platform for early career researchers to exhibit their recent work and research interests

  • To build connections and germinate potential collaborations between researchers working with PDE’s across Scotland

  • To create an opportunity to discuss in an informal setting with internationally renowned researchers

  • To enable PhD students to present their work in progress in an informal setting

The meeting will feature plenary talks from:
Gianni Dal Maso, SISSA, Trieste
Glenn F Webb, Vanderbilt University

Arrangements

To participate in this meeting please register using this form. Participation is free of charge. The number of participants is strictly limited and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. To avoid disappointment please register as soon as possible.

The meeting will take place in the Cramond Room at ICMS, 15 South College Steet
