Thanks to a philanthropic donation from Alex Gerko, ICMS is delighted to launch a new funding stream as part of the innovative Mathematics for Humanity programme. This new funding will allow us to support international activities that can take place at any location in the world optimised for impact, accessibility and sustainability. This will include up to ten Global Workshops for Humanity with a maximum budget of 35,000 GBP each.
Announcing the new scheme ICMS Director Minhyong Kim said "At the ICMS, we are very serious about the international identity expressed in the name of our institution. It is wonderful that this generous donation from Alex Gerko, Founder of XTX Markets, is enabling us to support events in parts of the world where they will be most effective, in manners that are consistent with the protection of the environment and sustainability. We hope that this will support flexible and broad-ranging collaborations in the service of humanity among mathematical scientists and institutions that share a global outlook."
Further information about Mathematics for Humanity and how to apply can be found here. The first closing date for applications is June 1 2024.
