The ICMS is pleased to announce that Professor Maria J. Esteban of the University of Paris-Dauphine is the new chair of its Advisory Board. Professor Esteban is a world-leading expert on nonlinear partial differential equations and their applications to physics and chemistry. She is the recipient of many international honours including the SIAM Prize for Distinguished Service to the Profession, the Jacques-Louis Lions Prize of the French Academy of Science, and the Blaise Pascal Medal of the European Academy of Sciences. She is also an Honorary Member of the London Mathematical Society, a Member of the Academia Europaea, and a Knight of the National Order of Merit of France. She has extensive experience of academic administration and leadership in numerous international organisations. The management and staff of the ICMS are greatly honoured that Professor Esteban has accepted this position and look greatly forward to availing themselves of her leadership and wisdom in the coming years.
