About:

Following the success of the first Workshop on Climate Change and Insurance  https://fam.tuwien.ac.at/events/cci2024/ held in Vienna, we are delighted to announce that the second edition, CCI 2025, will take place in the beautiful city of Edinburgh from September 10 to 12, 2025.

The workshop continues its mission to deepen our understanding of how climate change impacts the insurance industry and to foster collaboration between actuaries and academics on both national and international levels.
Without proper management of its climate risks, the insurance sector is vulnerable, with the potential for underestimated claims to lead to the system collapse. Such a scenario could have catastrophic consequences for businesses and society at large.

We invite submissions from practitioners and researchers on a range of topics, including but not limited to:
    •    Climate risk management
    •    Climate risk scenarios
    •    Financial impact of climate change on natural disasters
    •    Risk prevention and adaptation measures to increase resilience to climate change
    •    Tools to reduce the climate insurance protection gap
    •    Impact of climate change on the life insurance sector
    •    Pricing of climate change risks
    •    The role of actuaries in handling the climate change
    •    Sustainable finance
Submissions on other topics related to climate-related risks are also welcomed.

Keynote Speakers include:

Mathieu Boudreault, Université du Québec
Susanne Ditlevsen, University of Copenhagen
Marta Giovanetti, University of Rome
Mercedes Maroto-Valer, Heriot-Watt University
Peter Tankov, Institute Polytechnique de Paris
